Why Your Infant Needs To Wear A Swimmer Diaper In The Pool

When you think about water safety the first thing that probably will pop into your head is drowning. Basically it is definitely one of the highest risks when swimming but there is more. Germs can dirty pool water and can cause RWI - recreational water illnesses.

These illnesses are spread by drinking pool water that has been contaminated. Contamination is spread when someone's waste gets in the water.

I know that the germs provoking these RWIs get killed by the chlorine in the pool water but that doesn't happen immediately after an accident. Some germs like Crypto can last more than a day in chlorinated water.

As infants and some toddlers are not fully potty-trained most pools require that they wear a swim diaper approved by the CDC.

Swimming diapers are not like regular diapers as they do not take in liquids. What they are supposed to do is to hold any solid waste in. Though it is true that swim nappies do not guarantee non-leakage on 100% if used with some precautions they will block out the germ spread.

You can pick from disposable and reusable swimmer diapers to buy. Both have their advantages and weaknesses but I personally recommend using the reusables.

The reason I like better reusable swim diapers is they are much cheaper in the long term though the first investment may seem large. In fact your baby will need only two or three washable swim diapers so you can change them if there has been a poo event.

You can wash them in the laundry with other clothes and towels. I wouldn't suggest that you put your child in a normal cloth diaper cover. Usually it will do the same work but the chlorine in the water will destroy the fabric.

If you detest the thought of washing a soiled diaper than you should go for the disposable option. Disposable swim diapers come in packs as regular and you throw them away after every swim. I wouldn't recommend using a sposie more than once though it can get through a couple of laundry cycles.

The negative aspect of using disposable swimming diapers is they will need more room in your bag and they are actually expensive.

When you go shopping for swimming diapers you should keep some important checkpoints in your mind.

A great swim diaper should be comfy, not difficult to put on and pull off when dirty and should be made of a light fabric that won't give your baby a rash. My tip is to choose an adjustable swimming diaper, there are options with Velcro, snaps and strings so it fits snugly the baby's body.

Both reusable and disposable swim diapers have a great variety of colors and styles to choose from. Especially if you have a baby girl you may find it not easy to choose only one or two as they are so adorable.
